I'll start by saying that my problem was with the Head Office/Customer Service Department of this company and not this specific location. Although I agree that the service is sub par, I haven’t had any significant issues with this location.
The customer service I was given was the bare minimum. I felt in no way helped and in fact, I had to do almost all of the work just to end up with crumbs. I get delays. I understand that policies exist, but I cannot excuse incompetence.
I placed an online order for a product I’ve been using since I was 15. I have very sensitive skin and their product is the only moisturizer that has helped me, so I’m almost lost without it. I placed this order on December 3rd.
To make what was an extremely long and taxing story short. My package was lost. After delays and so much mixed messaging, I was directed to initiate a claim from Canada Post with the Body Shop on December 23rd. When I got on the phone with The Body Shop, they denied it, saying I had to give them more time to deliver a package that was just declared to me as lost by the courier themselves. I was not able to initiate the process of a claim, which would allow me to request a refund or replacement order, until December 27th. I asked for a replacement, to which I was initially granted, then refused. Upset and frustrated, I had to wait for a supervisor to get in contact with me just so he could tell me, ‘sorry but all we can do is offer a refund.’
I never order online, and the whole point of doing this was to do my part and not go in-store as we’re experiencing a global pandemic. After all of this, I attempted to call this location (Oakville Place) to do a curbside pickup, to which they responded, they are not doing curbside pickup’s. This led to me back to another back and forth encounter with The Body Shop’s customer care line, to look for an alternate location that would do curbside pickup. The agent suggested BUFFALO, USA so that’s an indication of how much they were actually paying attention to my location. I'M STILL WITHOUT MY PRODUCT.
If you want to be regarded as a company that is customer-oriented, its moments like these, that you have to show it, and The Body Shop failed miserably. I hope that this company takes this as a learning moment because what I saw was a poor reflection of service.
