Shannon is the best for helping select the best hairstyle, she gave my heavy thick hair new life and was super easy going, Shannon’s assistant Ally was amazing with washing and drying- super gentle and easy to talk to. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a chill/ easy going atmosphere with great results! Will be returning regularly!

Booked online. There were 5 different times to choose from. Within hours of booking my preferred times, I receive an email stating both the appointments I booked had the times changed. I don’t live in town but I figured a few hours wasn’t a big deal. I get to the salon and it is CLOSED. My appointments said 1 pm and 1:30 pm on December 30th. Today is December 30th and the sign on the door says closed Sunday and Monday. Today is also Monday. Not a decent way to run a business. I have the email verifying this information.

I went to Shannon at Salonki Hair for my first salon appointment in 6 YEARS! I went to see Shannon for a multi tone colour that first needed colour correction we talked through everything and how we are going to achieve the desired look before we got started and throughout the service. We then did a hair cut that felt like a big change for me and every step of the way I felt confident and secure in what we were doing. I am BEYOND thrilled with the service I received I am so grateful that Shannon takes the time to understand the clients vision and has the skill to make it happen in a way that feels so natural for her to do. Shannon custom made two colours that I am absolutely OBSESSED with, gave me the curtain bangs of my DREAMS while giving me a peakaboo fade for some added gender euphoria! I'm so happy with my service and CANNOT wait to have another service. I recommend Salonki and Shannon to anyone that will listen!!

I apologize for the long paragraph but it’s worth it. I am soooo disappointed in this salon. I called and made an appointment. I specifically asked how much a wash/cut/style service was. The lady told me (and I have a witness) that the long hair service is 55$. I was so happy to hear that! Now I can tip my stylist really good (I love tipping people). Anyways, I went in and she takes me to the sink. She doesn’t even have a lil consultation with me because I have a scalp condition and bad hair history I wanted to tell her but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and went with it. That was the first red flag. She starts shampooing me and doesn’t wash the back of my head. Just the top. Then started to condition so I asked for another shampoo because she didn’t get the back plus my scalp has been really bad lately. She proceeded to put the shampoo ON TOP of the conditioner she put in. Didn’t even wash out the conditioner. At that point, I was not confident in her. Then she brings me to her chair and starts to cut. The cut is okay, I have a bunch of layers already and I just wanted a fresh cut to them. I naturally have straight and flat hair so it’s bound for the layers to be seen but she cut a whole line in my hair. I told her blend it out more. It’s still choppy and uneven. I was getting so irritated so I just left it and wanted to leave. I was so excited for the blow out, I wanted a lot of volume and big curls. That is easily executed with a round brush and blow dryer. She starts rough drying my hair and blow drying it STRAIGHT. Again, I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. Then she wanted to curl my hair with a hot tool but I told her my hair is damaged and can’t use a lot of heat on my hair. I said the blow dryer and round brush is doable. I’m sorry but this lady said she has 8 years of experience on her but couldn’t curl with a round brush? That is the most basic thing they teach u in school. I went to school for professional hairstyling and WORKED as a stylist in Ottawa and I know for a FACT it’s possible to curl with a round brush, just gotta have good technique. She had no technique at all, not even giving any effort in it. Then when she was done, I asked if my bangs could get more volume. She said she can’t without a flat iron… I was so done at this point. My hair was so straight and flat, I put my sunglasses on my head and started to go to the front to pay. She turns the debit machine around but I had to pay cash so I asked how much it was. She said 70$!!! HUHHH? I explained I was quoted 55$ for this service, the owner was right there so she was like no no no your service is 70$, talking to me like I’m dumb. I only brought 70$ with me because it was 55$ and I would give her a 15$ tip. They did not want to give me what I was quoted. I gave them my 70$ and walked out without tipping! Never ever again will I go to this place. I don’t recommend this salon unless u want to walk out looking the same as when u walked in🤦🏽‍♀️
