I recently visited Salem Beauty Salon and had an absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and the atmosphere was both relaxing and stylish. My stylist, Kamil was incredibly professional and took the time to listen to what I wanted before offering their expert recommendations.

I had a haircut and blow dry I couldn’t be happier with the results. The precision and attention to detail were impressive, and my hair has never looked better! The products they used were high-quality, and I appreciated how they tailored the treatment to suit my hair type.

The salon itself is beautifully designed with a modern yet cozy feel. It’s clear that they prioritize both comfort and aesthetics. Plus, I loved that the entire team worked seamlessly together to create such a positive and efficient atmosphere.

I have been visiting Salem’ salon for the last 6 years. Walking in his salon is like visiting family. He always knows what hair cuts suits me and look good on me. I have curly hair and I am very picky about hair colours and haircuts. But I can trust Salem to make me look the best. The staff there are lovely 😊 I wouldn’t go anywhere. Very reasonable prices. Best haircuts, best blow dries !!!

I had the worst makeup and hair experience at this salon ever. It was for my engagement party and so it was very important that I looked good. Firstly, I’ve gotten my make up done several times before, but I have never had such a terrible experience getting my make up done. The make up artist Youmna did not listen to anything that I wanted, I told her I wanted natural makeup, I wanted no eyeshadow under my eyes. She would not listen to a word I said, every time I told her that the make up she was doing, was too much and too heavy for me, she kept saying that she knew what she was doing, and that I would look good at the end. She also never allowed me to look in the mirror. She said I was not allowed to look in the mirror until she was done the make up and even when I tried to sneak peaks into my phone camera, she told me I was cheating and I was not allowed to look at it. It was so bad that I went home and I washed my entire makeup off with soap and redid my own make up for my engagement party. I also don’t think that she is hygienic at all. Her brushes and sponge looked severely dirty and her entire station just looked like it was not cleaned. I understand that she is not affiliated with Salem hair salon and just uses their space, but it is their responsibility to make sure that their clients are receiving good service and clean service.

The hair artist was also terrible. He was extremely rude and was working on another client at the same time so he was leaving me for 10 minutes at a time to work with the other client even though I was on a time crunch. He was not allowing me to properly explain what I wanted, and I was scared to even comment anything because he would not respond in a kind manner. For example, I asked him if the extensions were the same length as my hair or longer than my hair and he aggressively took my hair and put it to the front and said “look look” and pointed aggressively to indicate that it was going to be longer than my hair. It was very inappropriate and the entire experience was so traumatizing that I didn’t let them put the hairpins in my hair because all I wanted to do was leave and never come back. And the hair was not good at all, my friend had to come over when I got home and fix it herself. Overall, I would stay far away from this salon and never come back. Even 1 star is too much.

It was my first time to go to this salon. I called and asked about the price for a hair cut and blow dry and they said $70. I booked an appointment the same day.
Salem did the hair cut and asked me if I like the blow dry to be straight or wavy and I picked to be wavy.
When I went to pay he asked for $90 and when I mentioned that I was told it’s $70 he said because you did wavy. It was never mentioned that it will cost more for wavy and it was just a blow dry. And they didn’t want to honor the price I was told on the phone although my hair it’s at my shoulders.

I came to Salem Beauty Salon today for a wash, cut and blow dry. When I checked in, it didn't seem like they could find me on the schedule as I was asked which stylist I was booked with (I was not told at the time of booking my appointment). I told the receptionist I was booked for noon for a wash, haircut and blow dry. The stylist then came over and took me to wash my hair. After the wash, I told the stylist that I wanted my hair cut just below my collarbone. He acknowledged, and then asked if I wanted my hair wavy or straight. I asked how my hair would be curled and he said it would not be curled, but waves, which I said was fine. He then started to section my hair with a small round brush and blow-dry it. After he finished the first small section, I turned around to ask if he would be cutting my hair to which he replied he would.
He proceeded to completely section and blow-dry my hair. As he was hair spraying it, I knew it wasn't going to be cut.
He then turned me around and asked how I liked it. I told him that I had expected a hair cut, and had even told him when I first sat in the chair how long I wanted it. He told me it was okay, and that I could come back next week. Not only did I make arrangements for an appointment today and drive in from Burlington, but I have no intention of paying again.
I walked to the front where the receptionist asked how everything went. I told her that there was clearly a miscommunication somewhere on their end because between booking the appointment last week and speaking with the stylist today, I had communicated 5 times that I wanted my haircut.
Someone whom I assume is the owner then came to the front to say they could cut my hair today and it would be an additional 35-40 minutes. I said that was fine and asked what I would be paying for, as I did not want to pay for 2 washes and 2 blow dries as well as the haircut. They confirmed I would pay for what I had originally booked for.
My hair was then re-washed by the initial stylist and cut by the owner. The cut is fine. I wanted my hair shorter, which it is. I asked for layers around my face but asked that it all be long enough to pull into a ponytail. While the majority of my hair is, the layers are just a bit too short. A minor detail in the grand scheme of things.

While I appreciate that my hair was cut and the issue was corrected without an additional appointment or cost, I never had an issue with this salon when it was Uptown Hair Studio.
I was also asked 3 separate times while I was there if it was my first time at the location. I've been a client at the location since the salon first opened in the plaza over 20 years ago. I don't know if their system has changed, or if previous client data is now gone since the salon has changed names.
Overall, it was a rather disappointing experience and I've decided it is best to find a salon that is now closer to home.

Salem beauty salon is simply the best, I got my hair cut, color, high light ,style all here ,I am always greeted with smile and great hospitality ,they have reasonable prices and good communication and very nice outcome ,I highly recommend it.
Also I did make up with Youmna ,I loved it , she is really an artist.

don’t go here because salem the main stylist doesn’t even know how to do hair. i got my hair straightened and i left with burns on my ears. Not to mention he was very rude to me and kept pulling my hair. If i could give this place a negative rating i would. He doesn’t know how to deal with straight or curly hair and the haircuts are just horrid. So just don’t go there cause the price is crazy for terrible quality.
